The teaching programme took its first steps seven years ago. In 2022 three municipalities of greater Copenhagen achieved funding to spread the program to nine schools, using it as a bridge between primary schools, traditional music schools, and after-school activities in the communities.
The idea of creating a modern tablet-based teaching program for primary schools was conceived in 2015 by Lars Juhl when heading the education section of the Danish electronic music festival Strøm. Shortly after, music technology instructor Rasmus Kjærbo joined, providing vital ideas for developing the program and its lessons. Music producer Rasmus Vincentz Jensen and music consultant Jeanette Frederiksen have also contributed as instructors on several project implementations.
The first implementation of The Electronic School Concert took place in May 2015 with funding from Copenhagen Municipality. After several successful implementations in schools in Copenhagen during 2016, the programme was hosted by the music school Rytmisk Center during 2017-2020. Today the programme’s founder is setting up a new platform for further distribution in Denmark and abroad.
The Electronic School Concert was showcased at Music Tech Fest in Stockholm in 2019 and at other conferences and festivals, like SPOT festival in Aarhus.
